Fabrics and upholstery - how to maintain your sofa

Good advice for your sofa

The materials in your sofa will change over time as you use it. Normal changes include the fabric waving. Fabric waving is caused by the fabric becoming more elastic after use while the upholstery material softens. This can be seen most noticeably on large cushions like corner cushions.

To prevent the upholstery from stretching more than normal, the fabric should be smoothed out towards the edges by hand at regular intervals. Stretching is a normal phenomenon and different fabrics stretch differently. Generally speaking, soft fabrics stretch more and faster than coarser ones.
